Here are a few players who United broke the British transfer record to sign


Matt Busby paid £115,000 to lure Denis Law from Torino in 1961.




Bryan Robson signed on the Old Trafford pitch for £1.5million from West Brom in 1981.



United parted with £7million to bring Andy Cole to Manchester from Newcastle in 1995.



Juan Sebastian Veron joined Sir Alex Ferguson's Reds for £28.1million from Lazio in 2001.



The following year, Rio Ferdinand looked dapper in white after sealing a £29.1million move from Leeds.



Angel Di Maria is United's latest British transfer record signing.
